Kids Educating Kids

The Health Occupations Students of New Caney High School,

under the leadership of  Meningitis Angels and Frankie Milley

educated the district's some 6,500 students

 on the signs and  symptoms of

 Bacterial Meningitis, infectious childhood diseases, and how to prevent them including immunization.

 

 

HOSA Students showing an elementary group of 400 children ways to prevent bacterial meningitis as well as other diseases. 

Cafeteria, Bus and Sports Events were demonstrated with special stage props and the creativity of the HOSA students.

Just a few of the rules given to the kids were,

Not sharing eating utensils, water bottles, and candy. Wash your hands several times a day and  brush your teeth two - three times a day. Avoid public water fountains in poor working conditions.

Not picking your nose and keeping your nose and face  wiped when you have a cold or allergy.  Covering your nose and mouth when you sneeze or cough.

They were educated on the signs and symptoms of meningitis and told to tell their parents, teacher or an adult when they felt sick.

They were instructed to talk to their parents about their vaccinations being up to date.
