This group of young individuals are here to help educate about not only meningitis but teen health and safe practices. They gladly share their life changing experiences with the public, schools, legislators, the medical profession and all to prevent others from this tragedy.

Hey everyone! I am 22 and live in Memphis, Tennessee.
On June 19, 2001 I was rushed to a hospital and diagnosed with bacterial meningitis. I was in a coma for six weeks and my total hospital stay ended up being three and one half months. Up until that point I'd never been sick in my life. I had danced and cheered since I was four . I worked out a lot and was always healthy.
Because of meningitis, I lost both of my legs below the knee and quite a few fingers. At first, I admit, I was bitter about everything that had happened, but once I stopped feeling sorry for myself and realized how lucky I was, I decided I wanted to make people aware of this disease and what it can do. I speak at publicly including schools. My story has appeared on several of the local news channels and in local papers.
I am still in and out of the hospital because my immune system is just not where it was before.
I try not to let it get me down and I just keep on going.
I attend the University of Memphis and plan on getting a degree in either theater or public relations!
Lindsey will also be a host for our support chats and help with media relations.

Leslie Michelle Meigs
Hi Everybody! I am 14 years old and live in Texas
My birthday is July 7, 1990.
I am an Earth Bound Angel
Texas
Survivor of Meningococcal Meningitis Group C, with the help of a trial drug, I survived with some scars and minor health problems .
Leslie has made several, Texas Senate speeches and has spoken to CDC on behalf of Meningitis Angels and immunizations for meningitis. Her mom is the president of Meningitis Angels.
She works very closely with Frankie Milley to educate in Texas.

I was diagnosed with meningitis the day I was suppose to move off to college. I now only suffer was migraines and insomnia. I am now a sophomore at the University of Central Oklahoma studying political science. I am working close with my university and the faculty to raise awareness and promoting the new vaccine!
