Nutritional Tips From Paula

I have done a lot of reading over that past 3 1/2
years.  I learned from my mom that you should eat balanced meals.
However, what I have read goes into more detail.  The saying, "You are
what you eat", is very true.  I don't think the majority of today's
society even thinks about what goes in their mouths.

  Ways to Improve Your Health
 1.  Eliminate or limit refined and processed food from your diet.
These foods contain preservatives, additives, and coloring agents.

 2.  Eliminate or limit white sugar, white flour, and table salt from
 your diet .
These foods have practically no nutritional value.  Healthier
substitutes for white sugar         are pure maple syrup, honey, brown rice
syrup, blackstrap molasses, and stevia.  For         white flour, use whole
wheat pastry flour, spelt flour or any other whole grain flour.
Celtic sea salt is good in place of table salt.

3.  Eliminate or limit hydrogenated oils and fried foods.
Hydrogenated foods have been linked to heart disease, colon cancer,
and more.  However, you do need to include the "good" fats.  The
"good" fats are found in nuts,         seeds, and oils such as extra-virgin olive oil and flaxseed oil.
 4.  Eliminate or limit tobacco, alcohol, and caffeine.
 5.  Eliminate or limit carbonated beverages from your diet.
These drinks are high in sugar and caffeine.  Plus, carbonated
>> beverages upset the         mineral balance of your body and rob calcium from your bones.

 6.  Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables.
These are full of vitamins, minerals, enzymes, antioxidants, and more.  Eat fruits and vegetables that include all colors of the rainbow.

 7.  Eat foods high in fiber.

Fiber can prevent constipation, reduce the risk of colon cancer, and lower cholesterol.

 8.  Limit your consumption of dairy products and meat, especially red  meat.  Dairy products are very mucous forming foods.  Meat can be
full of antibiotics and  growth hormones as well as saturated fat and cholesterol.    Organic meats, eggs, and dairy are healthier  choices.  As for milk, several "milks" are available, such as soy,   rice, oat, almond, and hazelnut.
 9.  Drink  plenty of water--at least eight glasses--a day.  Our bodies are two-thirds water.  Water is an essential nutrient  involved in every  function of the body.
 10.  Exercise and get plenty of sleep on a daily basis.
To have energy you must use energy.  You need sufficient rest for  your body to repair        itself.
